At Gaayip-Yagila Primary School, our curriculum is based on the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 — a curriculum that outlines the knowledge, skills, and understandings every student should develop during their first eleven years of schooling. It is designed to help students become lifelong learners, confident individuals, and active, informed citizens who are equipped to navigate a diverse and changing world.
We deliver a comprehensive and engaging program across the eight learning areas of:
Our detailed Foundation to Year 6 scope and sequence ensures every student accesses a thorough and sequential education in each area. Through these learning areas, we also build the Victorian Curriculum Capabilities - Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, and Personal and Social - by embedding them within classroom learning experiences and linking them directly to curriculum content.
We maintain a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, and science, ensuring every student builds essential foundational knowledge and the ability to apply it in meaningful contexts. Our Instructional Model, aligned with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, is grounded in the science of learning and places explicit teaching at the centre of every classroom. Teachers clearly communicate learning intentions and success criteria, explicitly model and guide students through new skills, provide targeted feedback, and use data to plan lessons that meet each student’s point of need.
To ensure families remain informed and engaged in their child’s learning journey, we report on student progress regularly - through semester reports and five-weekly ongoing reports in literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing. This approach provides families with timely insights into what their child is learning and how they are progressing toward achieving the expected curriculum standards.
