A very warm welcome to Gaayip-Yagila Primary School. My name is Cassandra Hoggins and on behalf of the staff, parents and students of Gaayip-Yagila Primary School I would like to welcome you to our website. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our fantastic school. Through reviewing our website you will learn about our school’s programs and the many learning opportunities we provide at our school.
We are committed to providing students with an inclusive and engaging school experience, ensuring that they have every opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. Our dedicated and passionate teaching staff work collaboratively and are committed to ensuring all students achieve their best as they strive for excellence. Our teaching and learning programs are aligned to the Victorian Curriculum. Alongside, classroom-based programs our students are immersed in excursions and incursions that align with our schools teaching and learning program and create a connection to real-world experiences.
As Gaayip-Yagila Primary School prepares our students to become connected, engaged and collaborative learners we demonstrate a genuine commitment to student voice and agency. We support students to take an active role in their learning and encourage them to co-construct experiences alongside their peers and the teacher. Our staff cater for the individual needs of students through the development of co-constructed learning goals, with students and families, as part each student’s personalised individual learning plan. We also offer a variety of extension and intervention programs to ensure we support each child in meeting their potential.
With comprehensive specialist programs including Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Science we offer a range of opportunities for students to showcase their skills and talents. Gaayip-Yagila Primary School has also established extra-curricular activities that provide opportunities for students to be increasingly connected and engaged with their peers and the school community.
Learning and wellbeing are connected – students learn best when their wellbeing is optimised, and they develop a strong sense of wellbeing when they experience success in their learning. Students at Gaayip-Yagila benefit from a highly positive and supportive culture highlighted by our commitment to ‘School-wide Positive Behaviour Supports’ and a ‘Restorative Practices’ approach.
We consider ourselves fortunate to be part of the Mickleham community and pride ourselves on the partnerships we are creating. I look forward to welcoming you to a tour of our school to view the learning environment and facilities we provide for our students. If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact our administration team on 9216 3200.
Kind Regards,
Cassandra Hoggins
