Gaayip-Yagila Primary School has a comprehensive Physical Education program that aims to aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to develop and maintain their physical, mental, social and emotional health.
The program actively promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity through the development of motor skills and movement competence, health-related physical fitness and sport education. Areas covered throughout the year include athletics, fundamental motor skills, gymnastics, ball handling, major and minor games and fitness. All students receive one PE lesson per week. Lessons are activity based and have an emphasis on teaching the correct technique, rules and developing knowledge progressively from Foundation through to Year Six.
